Esperanza Los Cabos Getting Ready Real Moments

Romantic Wedding at Esperanza in Los Cabos

The Couple & The Proposal

Suzie and Steve met through a mutual friend and within 10mins of their first date, Suzie had a gut feeling that Steve was the one. Guess what? She was right.
Steve planned a super romantic getaway trip to San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara. They stayed at a charming cottage that had a beautiful wooden porch with sprawling wildflowers. As the sun was setting the couple was getting ready for dinner and when Suzie stepped out on the porch to leave, there was Steve, down on one knee.

His proposal was romantic, sweet and simple. “He used my full name and asked me to marry him”. Suzie says she was in shock, as she never picked up any signs. He opened the box and there was a light shining brightly on a gorgeous ring.

“He picked out the ring all by himself. He has excellent taste! I had instant tears of joy and said YES!” and right after accepting his proposal, she asked Steve if he had asked for her father’s permission, to which he answered with a laughter “of course I did”. Suzie has a truly special relationship with her dad, so that was a very important detail to her, and as her better-half, Steve knew all about that.

Suzie’s Vision for the Wedding

Suzie had a very clear vision for her wedding, and wanted it to have a soft elegance that was fun, yet sophisticated. She envisioned sunset with many ivory and blush tones, perfectly opened roses, eucalyptus leaves, rustic wood, sand and waves crashing on the beach.

The bride wanted the night to be lit with candlelight and fireworks. “I love the way the colors navy and mint mix with the beautiful blues of the ocean”. And so what started as a beautiful picture in Suzie’s heart and mind became reality.

The Wedding Day

Wedding happened at the Esperanza, an Auberge Resort  in early November to perfect temperatures and spectacular ocean views.

Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations were all about soft elegance and sophistication and reflected the colors Suzie envisioned. Checkerboard invitations had a beautiful mix of colors, fonts and luscious paper. Same color palette was used for gift bags and other goodies guests received, as the small burlap bags with an emergency kit for hangovers.

The Flowers

Light pinks were chosen for the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, a profusion of baby white and blush roses and white hydrangeas. Roses were also used in abundance for the ceremony and reception.

Bride and Bridesmaids Style

The bridal gown was an Ines Di Santo design named “Elisavet” a strapless piece with ivory lace and cameo pink underlay. The bridal ensemble was completed by Jimmy Choo’s Ivette silver sandals, Simon G jewelry and the final touch was Grandma Ruby’s vintage Bulova watch.
Bridesmaids wore light blue gowns from the White collection by Vera Wang while makeup and hair was done by the fabulous Suzanne Morel team of Cabo and Charity Dunnam of La Jolla.
The getting ready time was filled with giddiness and emotion, from the moment the bride was being dressed until the moment when her grandmother came to place the Bulova watch on her wrist and finally when Suzie’s father came to see her for the first time dressed as a bride, carrying Suzie and Steve’s baby Duke in his arms.

Groom and Groomsmen Style

Groom wore a Joseph Abboud dark blue 3 piece suit with same color tie. Groomsmen wore the same, paired with a light blue tie to match bridesmaids dresses. Just before going to the ceremony site at the beach, groom was filled with gifts from the bride, receiving cute little gifts like socks in case of “cold feet” and the perfect bridal-groom gift: a book with boudoir photos.

The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony site was at resort’s private beach, composed of a wooden deck, chivalry chairs in similar tones and an arch crowned with roses and eucalyptus leaves done by Cabo Floral. By the pool area and under the shade of palm trees lounge seats and bistro sets made for a fabulous cocktail hour for before and after the ceremony. There was a guest table decorated with fantastic details like a bird cage, flanked by the hand written seating chart.

The ceremony was magical, close to sunset hour. Bridesmaids and groomsmen came in separately and after mother of the groom and mother of the bride's entrance, came the bride, from the top of a small hill overlooking the scene. Her father gave her away, vows and rings were exchanged throughout laughter and tears of joy.

The Reception

After cocktail hour and pictures, bride and groom were welcomed by a pathway of guests with sparklers and had their first dance at the beginning of reception. On the outdoor patio of Esperanza’s Cocina del Mar the reception was filled with candlelight, roses and hydrangeas, crystal chandeliers and custom made menus. Also on tables were blush colored table runners with sequins, for a personal touch over regular linens.

Each place set had two glass hearts, traditional Mexican craftsmanship, each to fit the palm of one's hand. These unique pieces were given to each guest with beautiful and delicate fabric wrapping and the words “thank you, from out hearts”.

Bride and groom set at a sweetheart table framed with single roses and many candles, as well as chivalry chairs decorated with interlacing white fabric.

At the end of dinner, fireworks exploded to the surprise and delight of guests and kickstarted the party. First the emotional parents dance, special and sweet, brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

Sweet Dreams Cabo produced a three tiered cake and the bride surprised the groom with a special San Francisco 49rs groom’s cake.

The dance area was made truly special by more candle light this time mixed with colored light to set the mood and had a Photo Booth and cigars as well as great tunes by DJ Teeven at the fabric wrapped dance floor.

Why Los Cabos?

When asked why they decided to get married in Los Cabos, Suzie simply answered that she loves the sea of Cortez for its brilliance and colors. She had been to Esperanza with Steve before and that’s when she fell in love with Cabo. “The Sea of Cortez and of course Esperanza!” she said “It became one of my favorite spots in the world. To me it’s heaven and I couldn’t think of a better place to begin our lives together”. Neither can we.
